Laser Communication Tests: Cucuyo and Cavok UAS

Successful Integration of Cucuyo’s P-100 with Cavok Drones

Cucuyo and Cavok UAS recently finished flight trials in Spain, demonstrating the successful integration of the P-100 laser communication terminal with Cavok drones.

P-100 Testing: What Happened?

In total, twelve tests were executed to check how well the P-100 terminal works with drones. Before these tests, extensive preparations took place to mimic real-life conditions. The collaboration involved Cavok teams from France and Spain, alongside skilled test pilots.

Spain was chosen because it had perfect testing conditions. The results were better than expected, meeting all goals and setting the stage for more technical advancements. Future experiments aim to enhance the strength of the data link further.

Sometimes people can’t believe how much technology can advance.

Why Choose Cucuyo’s Laser Technology?

Cucuyo’s laser system offers several benefits over regular radio systems:

  • Higher Data Rates: It transfers data much faster, achieving speeds of 1 Gbps up to 40 km, allowing quick sensor data transmission.
  • Security and Resilience:

    • Hard to intercept or jam due to a narrow laser beam.
    • Difficult to locate, ensuring safety for operators.
    • Resistant to spoofing, keeping communications secure.
  • No Licensing Needed: Unlike radio systems, no special licenses are required, making it easy and cost-effective to deploy worldwide.
  • Operational Flexibility:
    • Acts as a backup for satellite navigation when signals are disrupted.
    • Adapts well to different terrains, maintaining line-of-sight through relay nodes.

Industry Leaders React

Fabrice Parodi, CEO of Cavok UAS, expressed excitement about the successful tests, viewing them as a significant milestone in their innovation journey. Dr. Markus Knapek, CTO of Cucuyo, emphasized the importance of the data gathered during these tests for optimizing their product’s operational concepts.
