JUIDA has teamed up with Japan’s Ground Self-Defense Force to enhance readiness for natural disasters.
This collaboration involves several companies such as Airology Lab, ACSL, and others like Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Prodrone. Their joint efforts aim to boost the JDF’s ability to handle major natural calamities. Japan, sitting on the "Ring of Fire", faces frequent earthquakes, making such preparedness crucial. The Nankai Trough is a significant fault line that could trigger massive earthquakes along Japan’s southern coast. Though it’s been a while since a big quake, experts warn it might happen soon, showing how vital good disaster response plans are.
Earlier this year, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake near Suzu resulted in over 200 fatalities. During this Noto Earthquake, JUIDA coordinated efforts with 29 organizations, showing the value of drones in tasks like searching, inspecting infrastructure, and delivering necessary items. This prompted closer ties with the military to improve drone usage in these areas.
We believe working together makes us stronger against disasters.
The press release stated, “Based on the knowledge gained from the 29 companies and organizations assisting during the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred in January last year, JUIDA will promote cooperation with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) and seven participating companies, and strive to promote the effective use of drones in the event of disaster response to disaster prevention personnel, including the Self-Defense Forces, by promoting cooperation with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (the 3rd and 10th divisions) and the seven participating companies.”
