JDrone Begins Flexible Cargo Drone Service in Japan’s Mountainous Regions
JDrone, based in Tokyo, kicked off their new cargo delivery service on August 1, 2024, using drones to tackle the rugged terrains of Japan’s forested mountains.
Two main drones, the Yamaha FAZER R G2, nicknamed "Kibitaki," and the DJI Flycart 30, are at the heart of this service. They will deliver to remote construction sites, forestry camps, and mines. In emergencies like earthquakes, when roads are blocked, these drones will play a key role in getting supplies where they’re needed most.
The Yamaha FAZER R G2 operates like a helicopter, lifting up to 50 kg (about 120 lbs). It can fly high, up to 2800 meters, with a range of 90 km (around 55 miles). It’s gas-powered, making it perfect for long distances, and has been used for tasks like spraying pesticides and checking radiation levels.
In contrast, the DJI Flycart 30 features eight rotors and can carry 30 kg (approximately 65 lbs) over 16 km. If needed, it can transport up to 40 kg over 8 km. Withstanding winds up to 12 m/s and flying as high as 6,000 meters, it’s ready for tough missions in bad weather or challenging landscapes.
