DroneUp Secures Part 135 Certification for Drone Delivery

DroneUp’s Major Milestone

DroneUp recently celebrated a significant achievement by obtaining a Part 135 air carrier certification from the FAA, allowing them to deliver goods via drones Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) in areas with many people.

Expanding in Dallas Fort Worth

This new certification is a big step forward for DroneUp as it prepares to expand in the DFW region. Initially, they will start their service in Murphy, Texas, with plans to reach 10 more locations soon.

Why Part 135 Matters

With Part 135, DroneUp can serve more homes by extending its delivery range to five miles, making it possible to reach 300% more households. It also means DroneUp is following strict safety and operational rules set by the FAA.

Tom Walker, who leads DroneUp, expressed his happiness about this progress. “We are proud to achieve the FAA’s Part 135 Air Carrier and Operator Certification, a pivotal step in transforming how goods are delivered,” he stated. He mentioned their goal of bringing fast, reliable, and eco-friendly delivery to everyone.

We think drone deliveries could change how we get things at home.

DroneUp plans to work closely with the FAA to explore new possibilities like longer distances, heavier packages, and reaching even more places in the U.S.

Working with the FAA

Getting this certification wasn’t something DroneUp did alone; it involved teamwork with the FAA. Anthony Vittone, DroneUp’s COO, talked about their quick success. “We are very grateful for the collaborative process we undertook with the FAA in achieving this certification; the fastest drone company to achieve air carrier certification that was not based on an existing platform,” said Vittone.

The certification allows DroneUp to meet the rising need for drone deliveries while ensuring everything is safe. Vittone sees this as a great win for their team and tech. “With the FAA’s partnership and rigorous oversight, we are poised to expand our reach, driving innovation while meeting surging demand.”

Setting Up in DFW

DFW is becoming a key area for DroneUp’s certified drone operations. They plan to launch in Murphy, Texas, using advanced drones that can carry up to 10 pounds over five miles, then spread out to other spots in the region.

This move shows how important drone delivery is becoming in the world of logistics. People in DFW can expect faster and greener delivery options.
