Drone Rescue in Marinette County, Wisconsin

Drones and Spotlights: A Lifeline in Remote Areas

Authorities in Marinette County recently shared how a missing hunter was safely found thanks to their drone team.

Late one afternoon, deputies were alerted about a missing person in the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife Area. With the help of drone technology and special lighting, they quickly located the hunter and guided him out of the woods.

This wasn’t the first time the drones had come to the rescue. In August, they helped three tubers who got lost after their tubes overturned in the Peshtigo River area.

– One tuber was found by deputies in a forested area.
– The other two were located within six minutes using the drone’s spotlight feature.

Both rescues highlight how drones can be lifesavers in rural places where it takes longer to respond because of the distance. It’s amazing how technology can make such a difference in people’s lives.

The equipment, including the drone and spotlight, was funded by donations from Faith Lutheran Church in Marinette.
