Avy Names New CEO to Enhance Emergency Drone Networks

Avy Welcomes New CEO to Boost Drone Tech and Networks

Avy has appointed Benjamin van der Hilst as the new CEO, following Patrique Zaman, who stays on as a board member.

Leadership Changes at Avy

Since joining Avy in 2017, Benjamin van der Hilst has been instrumental in shaping the company. He previously served as the Chief Product Officer, contributing significantly to Avy’s growth. His background is rooted in technology and innovation, with over 15 years of experience at companies like Capgemini and BoP Innovation Center. Van der Hilst holds a master’s degree in Science and Innovation Management.

In his own words, “My goal is to build on the success and solid foundation we have established as a team over the past years. Together, we will continue to drive market development and advance drone technology. I am grateful for the trust Patrique, the investors and the team have placed in me and am eager to further champion our mission and values.”

Zaman highlighted why it was crucial to choose a leader from inside, saying, “We made a deliberate choice to appoint a CEO from within the company. This ensures we retain our specialised knowledge and preserve Avy’s culture of innovation. To enter this next phase, Avy needs a different type of leadership, and we’ve found that in Benjamin.”

People often find that transitions can bring new energy and ideas.

Growing Avy’s Drone Systems

Avy creates drones and networks for urgent situations like emergencies, inspections, and monitoring the environment. Their drones can quickly be used in operations such as rescue missions or sea emergencies.

Avy’s drones are unique because they mix drone features with those of an aircraft. This helps them fly faster and farther than regular drones. They can handle tough weather and have parachutes for safety over cities. Plus, they recharge by themselves, ready to go whenever needed.

In partnerships with groups like the Port of Rotterdam, Avy has shown how valuable their drones are for emergencies and inspections. They plan to expand their networks so more people worldwide can use their drones for important missions.

Future Plans

Van der Hilst aims to lead Avy into its next stage by expanding networks and improving drone tech. Meanwhile, Zaman will focus on product development and promoting Avy globally.

“Starting a company is different from scaling one,” Zaman mentioned. “I’m excited to refocus on what I love most: product development and showcasing Avy’s capabilities on a global scale.”
