Airbus and Primoco UAV Test Drone Swarm Technology in the Czech Republic
Airbus and Primoco UAV teamed up for drone tests at Písek-Krašovice airport, focusing on real-time swarm management.
The initial test saw two Primoco One 150 drones dispatched to a designated area by operators at the ground station. Airbus’ software enabled each drone to cover its own section for surveillance. They used AI-based ATR (Automatic Target Recognition) to spot threats together. One drone pinpointed a mock threat, sending location data back to base. The second test split the drones into separate missions: one continued to watch the target area for threats while the other remained ready. When a danger was detected, the second drone identified it using AI and reported back, while the first kept scanning the area.
We think technology is moving very fast, and it’s exciting to see how it can be used in different ways.
Besides these, Airbus and Primoco also tried out third-party app integration, proving the system’s flexibility across various platforms. The next step in their partnership involves refining the software for use with all types of aircraft, whether crewed or not, and potentially expanding into fields like infrastructure inspection.
